I started making candles about 15 years ago because I got tired of paying so much for candles in the store that were not only expensive, but of poor quality. I wanted something that would burn clean and not leave sooty residue in my home or chemicals in the air for my family and I to breathe in. I researched different types of candles and experimented with different types of wax, wicks and fragrances. For the past several years, I have made hundreds, if not thousands, of candles for personal use and have given many away as gifts.

I decided to expand my candlemaking skills and take to the internet to share these wonderful candles with others who are also looking for reasonably priced, high quality, eco-friendly candles to burn in their homes or share with their loved ones. And so Starrlight Candle Company was born.

ABOUT THE CANDLES

The candles I make are truly one of a kind. Fragrances and colours will change throughout the year as I experiment with different ideas. Candles may have imperfections and will not look like a commercially produced candle. That's what makes them unique! Each candle is made with loving care. Slight imperfections in appearance will in no way affect the quality of these handmade, custom candles.

To get the most out of your candles, please store candles in a cool, dry place. Keep wicks trimmed to 1/4" prior to burning. When burning your soy candle, always burn until the candle liquefies to the edge of the container, usually about 1 hour per inch diameter of container. Not letting the candle liquefy to the edge will result in tunneling and poorly affect your candle burning time. Be sure to keep your candle away from any type of windows or draft, as this will greatly reduce the amount of burn time you will receive. For votive candles, always put candle in a votive candle holder as these candles will almost completely liquefy while burning.

BENEFITS OF SOY WAX

Soy wax is produced from soybeans grown by American farmers. It is an all-natural, vegetarian, renewable source of wax, unlike paraffin which is produced from petroleum. Soy wax has a low-melting point which allows it to burn longer and produce a stronger fragrance while also not creating the soot that comes from a traditional paraffin wax candle.

WHY HEMP WICKS?

Hemp is a strong fiber that comes from the hemp plant. It is natural, vegetarian, and completely renewable. It allows candles to burn hotter and cleaner than other wicks that can produce smoke and "mushroom" at the ends while burning, needing constant trimming.
